It represents the eyelid surgery, and dramatically improves the appearance of tired, droopy eyes. This is accomplished by removing excess skin and pockets of fat from the upper and lower eyelids. This can be done either in separate or during the same surgery. Most often, the upper eyelid surgery is necessary, while for the lower eyelids it is enough to perform a chemical or laser peeling.
The surgery takes about 15-20 minutes per eyelid and it can be done under local or general anesthesia (patient's choice). After the surgery the patient will wear bandages on both eyes, which will be removed upon leaving the hospital. This can be an outpatient surgery. Once at home, the patient will apply cold compresses and will use eye drops for more comfort. During the next 3 days the patient will take antibiotics and pain medication is needed only during the first day. The stitches will be removed after 5 days and the patient needs to follow up with the surgeon only once. Patient can resume her/his social life within 3-5 days. For two weeks the patient is not allowed to wear make-up on the eyelids. The scar will disappear within 3 months from the surgery. Examples:
